1. Brush properly

Brushing helps remove bacteria, food and drink particles on the surface of the teeth and gums. This avoids enamel erosion and the onset of gum disease.

The key to keeping good oral health through brushing properly is to set a daily brushing routine and stay consistent in following the brushing schedule put into place.

2. Floss and use mouthwash

While it is important to brush several times each day, often doing so is not enough. It is also highly encouraged to floss and use mouthwash at least once a day as well.

While brushing can be effective at removing bacteria and food particles that build up on the surface of gums and teeth, it is often necessary to floss and use mouthwash in order to remove harmful particles in between teeth and on the gum line.

3. Use fluoride treatment

4. Drink more water

The biggest cause of oral health concerns is the existence of bacteria on and around teeth and gums. When harmful bacteria is constantly washed off, it significantly reduces the chance of developing oral health concerns such as enamel erosion and gum disease.

Perhaps the easiest way to keep bacteria washed off throughout the day is to sip on water. Simply taking a sip of water a couple of times each hour helps wash away harmful bacteria and prevent dry mouth.

5. Avoid harmful foods

Harmful foods contain particles that can eat away at dental enamel when combined with bacteria naturally found in the mouth. It is helpful to limit the use of foods and drinks that can harm teeth, including foods high in sugar.
